Chief Minister is the chief executive of any state. According to Indian Constitution , governor of the state is the head of that state but executive authorities are held by the Chief Minister. Chief Minister is appointed by the governor of state from the party winning majority of seats in Legislative assembly elections. Term of service of Chief Minister is of 5 years.
As a state , Haryana came in existence on 1st of November 1966. Since then , ten persons served Haryana as Chief Minister. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma is the first Chief Minister of Haryana. He is from Indian National Congress. It is also to be mentioned here that Bansi Lal is the longest serving Chief Minister of Haryana. He served Haryana as a Chief Minister for about 12 years. Currently , Manohar Lal Khattar is the Chief Minister of Haryana. He is from Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP). Also , he is the first CM of Haryana from BJP.
